Here are some resources I find useful. Hopefully you will as well.

Photography

The Photographers Ephemeris is a great app for determining where the sun and moon will be at various hours of the day. Essential for sunrise and sunset locations for any spot on the planet on any date.

PhotoPils is a smartphone app that I use a lot. It has most of the features as the ephemeris above but it adds a unique feature with its augmented reality function. With this you can use your smartphone camera to show you the scene in front of you and then it overlays the star/planet positions onto that scene as well. By changing the day/time settings you can see what will be visible above that mountain scene later that night. Pretty cool.

DxOMark is an independent testing organization with a wealth of technical data on lenses and cameras. If you want to see how that new lens you’ve been eyeing stacks up quality wise, this is the place.

As far as digital photography product review sites go, DPReview is one of the better ones. They have tons of content on their website and if you’re considering buying a piece of photo gear, they most likely have something on their site about it. I don’t use it a lot but I do check it periodically to see what’s new.

Photo Equipment

Amazon is self explanatory. Especially with their Prime membership for free shipping. I buy a lot of my equipment here.

B&H is a photography superstore. You’ll have a great time wandering around their store in Manhattan if you get the chance. Their website is pretty good too.

Adorama is another photography superstore. Between these three places you should be able to find anything you need.

RVing

iRV2 is a great online forum with a wealth of knowledgeable people. It’s a great place to see if someone has the answer to your RV question or problem.

RV Forum is another online community that’s pretty good. Not as large as iRV2 but has good info on RV topics.

When you’re looking to buy or sell an RV, RVTrader is a valuable tool in your search.

RVT.com is another site very similar to the one above for buying and selling RV’s. I used both of these sites extensively in our search for our coach.

If you need anything related to towing an RV or a car behind a motorhome, eTrailer is a great place to buy those items. Not only do they have pretty much everything you need, their prices are also very competitive. One of the best added values they include are installation videos for many of the products.

A nice resource for finding free or low cost campsites is found here.

RV Park Reviews is another campground rating site we use extensively. It gives us a pretty good idea ahead of time which campground has the amenities we’re looking for and what the rates are.

Website Stuff

WordPress is the website platform I use to create and manage this site. It’s pretty much the defacto standard for blogging websites although there are others out there.

Bluehost is the web hosting company I use to host this website on. They have great support for the WordPress platform. Their technical phone support is also fantastic as long as you call during normal business hours in the States. Late night support seems to go to a call center in India and it’s not nearly as good.

Disclosure – I am an Affiliate Member with Bluehost and will receive a small commission if you sign up with Bluehost using this link: https://www.bluehost.com/track/roadtripimages

Visual Composer is a plug-in for virtually any theme that you run on WordPress. It makes creating professional looking websites a snap. No HTML coding, no messing around with CSS code just straightforward design elements with tons of flexibility and control. I tried many themes before I found Visual Composer and none gave me this much capability. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Our Camera/Video Gear

I have a lot of camera gear and you certainly don’t need all this stuff to take good images. Below are links to some of the camera gear we use for photography and video.
